Sussex County’s ‘Open for Business’ Announces February 16 as Next Free Workshop Opportunity

Georgetown, DE – Ever dream of owning a business?  Have you committed your ideas to paper?  Get started on the path to success at Sussex County’s Open for Business workshop set for Thursday, February 16, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center located at the Delaware Coastal Airport in Georgetown, 21911 Rudder Lane in Georgetown.

Open for Business is a program under the umbrella of the Sussex Economic Development Action Committee (SEDAC).  Whether you have a business start-up idea, want to purchase an existing business or expand your existing business, attendees can answers questions and provide direction at Open for Business. A number of professionals from county and state agencies, colleges, business advocacy and resource organizations attend each month to provide:

  • How to get started
  • Types of business formation
  • Free business development consultations
  • Information on state and county licensing and permitting
  • Sources of capital and loan preparation
  • Networking with other business start-ups
  • Brainstorming with experts

Agencies and organizations that typically attend each month include:  The Center for Enterprise Development; Delaware State University; Delaware Economic Development Office;  Delaware Manufacturing Extension Partnership; University of Delaware’s Delaware Small Business Development Center; Delaware Procurement Technical Assistance Center; Delaware Technical & Community College’s Entrepreneur Center; SCORE Delaware; Southern Delaware Tourism; U.S. Small Business Administration; Delaware Office of Supplier Diversity; Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control; Delaware Department of Transportation; USDA; U.S. Census Bureau; Women’s Business Center; and the Delaware State Housing Authority.
