Clarksville

Clarksville, Delaware
Unincorporated

Clarksville is a small community that serves as a gateway to the Delaware beaches.

History:

While the town may seem small, it has played a huge part in local history. The Union Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church was not only home to the first African-American public school in the region, but has served as a religious center for local communities for the last two centuries. Fire consumed the original church and several of the school buildings, but the original one-room wood-framed schoolhouse remains standing to this day.
