As part of its continual effort to make a difference in the community in which it lives and serves, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Gallo Realty’s Gallo Gives Foundation awarded several of its 2019 second- and third-quarter earnings donations to the Tunnell Cancer Center- Beebe Healthcare, Lewes Community Garden, Mariner Middle School’s Business Professionals of America, and Pathways to Success; in addition, a portion of earnings has been set aside for a college-bound senior scholarship that will be made available in the spring of 2020. The total donated these two quarters was $15,750.

$2,500 was awarded to Beebe Healthcare’s Tunnell Cancer Center. Since its beginning, Beebe’s history has been one of expansion and growth. Beebe Healthcare offers an array of inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and diagnostic services. The Tunnell Cancer Center, opened in 1995 on Route 24, named for Robert and Eolyne Tunnell, houses the first radiation oncology treatment center in Sussex County. The healthcare system can also boast such other community services as health screenings, educational seminars, patient education, numerous support groups, and physician referral services among others. Beebe Oncology Services is committed to providing a compassionate, personal experience to all those who walk through the doors. $1,500 was dedicated to the Lewes Community Garden. The Lewes Community Gardeners are a group of dedicated local residents who took up the cause of establishing the greater Lewes area’s first community garden located at 366 Park Road, Lewes. Added to this mission is the drive to help stamp out hunger in Sussex County and to make sure the garden plots are accessible to people of all abilities. The group is a nonprofit under the auspices of the Greater Lewes Foundation. Creating this community garden is a means of creating a more engaged community and practicing advanced gardening techniques in order to provide more access to local produce. The group’s motto follows that of “Building a Stronger and Greener Community.” To support the Lewes Community Garden, visit https://www.lewescommunitygarden.org

$1,250 was donated to the Mariner Middle School’s Business Professions of America. In only its second year as a club, Mariner Middle Business Professionals of America members rank among the best in the country. After collecting five individual and two team awards at the state competition, students earned invitations to the national BPA conference in Anaheim, Calif.
