QRCF Call for Scholarship and Grant Applications

January 14, 2016, Bethany Beach, DE – The winter holidays are over for this year, but the Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation (QRCF) has plenty to celebrate, and asks the public to join in the celebration.

With 2 recent successful fundraisers behind the organization – Caribbean Christmas on Saturday, December 5th, and Hair of the Dog Run on New Year’s Day, the Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation is calling for grants requests and scholarship applications.

“Caribbean Christmas, our signature event, was held at Mango’s, and raised more than $30,000. Our thanks to those who attended.  Thanks also to the 800+ runners who participated in The Hair of the Dog Run; nearly $15,000 was raised.  In addition to outstanding attendance at both events, we had so many local business sponsors who contributed generously,” said Brigit Taylor, QRCF President.  “Now, it’s time for us to distribute those dollars!”

Taylor said, “We would like to invite local organizations to apply for grants and local students to apply for scholarships.  It’s easy to do online: www.qrcf.org!  We are so grateful for the outpouring of support to these events, and we want the people we serve to be the recipients of the generosity.”

QRCF offers two grant options, mini grants of $2,500 or less and full grants of more than $2,500, that are available to local non-profit and community service organizations.  More information and applications can be found at: http://qrcf.org/delaware-grants-to-organizations/

QRCF also offers scholarships and will award two $8,000 scholarships this spring to two local graduating seniors. Each recipient will be awarded $2,000 per year for four years. Scholarships are based on a combination of financial need, academics, school involvement, and community service, and more details may be learned at qrcf.org/what-we-fund/delaware-scholarships/.

To date, the QRCF has awarded more than $600,000 to organizations in the 10+ year history.  “The QRCF is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Bethany-Fenwick and surrounding areas by providing financial aid, resources and other assistance in support of programs, individuals and organizations that enhance our community for both residents and visitors alike.  By providing grants and scholarships and hosting popular community events, we strive to inspire growth and enrich our area. We invite you to explore our site and see what the QRCF can offer you, or what you can do to contribute to the mission of bettering our community and those that live, work and learn in The Quiet Resorts.” said Taylor.

“With continued support from the community and local businesses and a fantastic and committed board, we hope we are able to make several grants and award the 2 scholarships before summer 2016.” said Taylor.

“Registration is now open for our annual spring 5k/10k race, the Bunny Palooza, on Saturday, March 26.  Visit Bunnypaloozarun.com for more details and to register.  We look forward raising even more for the young people and organizations in Sussex County.” said Taylor.
