For the third straight year, Inc. magazine has placed Chesapeake Plumbing and Heating, Inc. on its annual Inc. 5000 list, the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The 2017 Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2013 to 2016. During this time, Chesapeake saw a three-year sales growth of 178%.
The list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment— its independent small and midsized businesses. Companies such as Microsoft, Dell, Domino’s Pizza, Pandora, Timberland, LinkedIn, Yelp, Zillow, and many other well-known names gained their first national exposure as honorees of the Inc. 5000.
Locally, sixteen Delaware companies qualified for inclusion on the 2017 Inc. 5000 list. Of those, Chesapeake ranked 8th statewide and 1st for Sussex County. In the previous two years, Chesapeake was recognized as the 6th fastest-growing Delaware company. According to the publishers, only twenty percent of companies named to the list qualify three times.

Chesapeake Plumbing and Heating has been serving residential and commercial customers in Delaware and Maryland since 2003. Locally owned and operated, Chesapeake specializes in repair and new construction services for plumbing, heating, cooling and fire sprinkler systems. . To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2013. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2016.
