Schell Brothers and the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce present the 40th Annual Bethany Beach Boardwalk Arts Festival, to be held on Saturday, September 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Celebrating its 40th year, this annual event, located in downtown Bethany Beach, hosts over 100 juried artists to showcase and sell their work. The featured artists bring unique creations representing a variety of different mediums including paintings, photography, woodwork, metalwork, clay, baskets, and jewelry.
Supported by Carl M. Freeman Companies and Chesapeake Heating & Plumbing, the anniversary event will feature fun for the whole family. The day will include an interactive mural, with local artist John Donato. Patrons are invited to stop by Donato’s booth on the bandstand to be a part of the art and help him create a whimsical mural. Shoppers can also enjoy live music from the Mystic Warriors throughout the day, as well as a live radio broadcast from WGMD from 10:00 am – noon.
Throughout the duration of the event, there will be a silent auction, featuring works of art generously donated by the festival’s artists. Local businesses are also welcome to donate to the silent auction and should contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. All proceeds from the silent auction will support the arts programs of four local elementary schools in the Quiet Resorts Region. With a goal of raising $5,000 for the art classrooms, the Chamber will continue its fundraising efforts on Sunday September 9th, at the Meet the Artist Cocktail Party, sponsored by Beebe Healthcare and Southern Delaware Tourism. Tickets for the Meet the Artist event will go on sale August 1st.
All guests are encouraged to shop not only the festival but local businesses, as well as explore the area’s many local art galleries. A business directory can be requested, or found on thequietresorts.com to plan a fun-filled weekend.
