2023 DELAWARE DEAF FEST
Delaware Deaf Fest ’23 will be hosted by the Delaware Deaf Senior Citizens (DDSC) organization on September 23, 2023. The event will be held at The Hope Center at Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church, 81 Central Avenue, Ocean View from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Delaware Deaf Senior Citizens (DDSC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that represents the growing number of Deaf citizens in the Delaware area. Our mission is to enhance the well-being of Deaf and hard-of-hearing senior citizens, improve communication access, and increase awareness about the Deaf community and American Sign Language. Delaware Deaf Fest ‘23 will be a day-long festival to celebrate Deaf culture and American Sign Language (ASL).
Proceeds from the event will support Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in Delaware schools. There will be food trucks, activities for families and children, Deaf culture videos and performances, American Sign Language classes, raffle baskets, a bake sale, and presentations. There will be vendors, and Deaf-owned business vendors will be highlighted. It will be a day to raise awareness about the Deaf community and interact with Deaf people and Deaf businesses and organizations.
The day coincides with the International Week of Deaf People which is celebrated worldwide. Please address further inquiries to Barbara Simpson, Deaf Fest ’23 Chair at [email protected]
