The Gallo Gives Foundation Awards Community Donations

As part of its continual effort to make a difference in the community in which it lives and serves, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty’s Gallo Gives Foundation awarded its quarterly donations to: First Tee Delaware, Autism Delaware, Sussex Strong Foundation, Community Resource Center, Cape Community Fund, Sussex Housing Group, and the Beebe Medical Foundation. In all, $11,500.00 was donated for this giving campaign.

 

$2,500 was donated to the Beebe Medical Foundation’s “Beebe Goes Purple” event that supports Opioid Awareness, Education, Prevention and Recovery.  The mission is to fight the growing opioid crisis in Sussex County.  An  event at the Starboard on October 6th to help raise funds for the cause.  Lee Ann Wilkinson of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty was one of the guest bartenders, and she raised over $33,000 for the event.  For more information visit beebehealthcare.org/gopurple.

 

$2,000 was awarded to First Tee Delaware.  The organization enables children to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with life skills curriculum, they create learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that children carry into everything they do. $2,000 was granted to Autism Delaware.  Their vision is that all people with autism have opportunities to learn, grow, and live full lives as included and valued members of the community. The organization continues to expand creative and innovative services, resources and support to individuals and families, while using evidence-based methods to become a model for others.  They build capacity in the community by partnering and collaborating with other entities, leading a group effort that will provide a wide array of person-centered, individualized services across the lifespan to meet the growing need, and be the leading resource for expertise, advocacy while raising awareness of autism in Delaware. $2,000 was donated to Sussex Strong Foundation. Over 20 years ago, a simple idea shared among a few friends – to raise money to buy gifts for those in need during the holiday season – became the Sussex County Association of REALTORS® Community Service Foundation and was formally established in 2008. This Foundation has grown and evolved into Sussex Strong. After decades of quietly supporting and strengthening Sussex County, Delaware, it was time to take pride in the efforts, promote all the good works done and provide greater recognition to the scores of donors and volunteers that have made the organization so unique. Sussex Strong has raised and distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars through various fundraising and charitable efforts over the years. $1,000 was given to the Community Resource Center.  The organization or CRC is a volunteer-driven organization created in 2011 to assist low-income individuals and families in times of need. They offer a centralized location where residents in the local community can come when they are facing a crisis. staffed by over.  The organization is staffed with 70 highly trained volunteers who work tirelessly to make their Mission a success.  To support the Center visit https://www.rehobothcommunitycenter.org

 

$1,000 was awarded to Cape Community Fund.  Southern Delaware may be a growing and changing landscape, but one quality that remains a constant among the community is the willingness of neighbors to help neighbors. Whether an accident, illness, fire or other unexpected catastrophe has caused a setback, this community rises to the challenge time and time again. Lastly, $1,000 was presented to Sussex Housing Group.  Sussex Housing Group (SHG) is a partnership of organizations that includes representation from the public and private sector, non-profits and other community-based organizations, and communities. SHG works collaboratively on housing and community development issues as they affect communities in Sussex County, DE.
