Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra Announces 2026–2027 Season: New Worlds, Timeless Wonders

Delmarva Peninsula — The Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is pleased to announce its 2026–2027 season, New Worlds, Timeless Wonders, an inspiring celebration of beloved masterworks, remarkable discoveries, internationally acclaimed guest artists, and cherished audience traditions. The season, led by Music Director Michael Repper, offers a compelling musical journey that spans centuries while showcasing the enduring power of orchestral music.

The Masterworks Series opens in September with From London to America, featuring Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings, Haydn’s triumphant Symphony No. 104 “London,” and Florence Price’s moving Adoration. In November, the Orchestra shines a spotlight on one of Maryland’s most significant musical voices with Mary Howe Rediscovered, pairing three of Howe’s orchestral works with Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8.

Returning favorites include the Orchestra’s beloved Holiday Joy concerts, the festive New Year’s Eve celebration featuring internationally acclaimed soprano Laquita Mitchell, and the Elizabeth Loker International Concerto Competition, where audiences experience both a world-class concert and an exciting live competition as exceptional young musicians perform with the Orchestra before a distinguished panel of judges.

Spring programming continues with Canyons, Constellations & Classics, featuring music by Jessie Montgomery and Tanner Porter, Aaron Copland’s Clarinet Concertowith YaoGuang Zhai, Principal Clarinet of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and Mozart’s Symphony No. 29. The season concludes with Discoveries, Reflections & Healing, featuring Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Noveletten, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Oboe Concerto performed by Dwight Parry, Principal Oboe of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and Louise Farrenc’s Symphony No. 3.

The Orchestra’s popular Ensembles Series also returns with four intimate chamber music programs performed by members of the MSO. Audiences will enjoy Romantic masterpieces inspired by Robert and Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms, a festive Holiday Brass program, a special celebration of Beethoven’s legacy marking the 200th anniversary of his death, and a season-ending exploration of Italian chamber music featuring Puccini, Donizetti, and Verdi.
