THE JOSHUA M. FREEMAN VALOR AWARDS HIGHLIGHTS THE FIRST RESPONDERS

Honoring Local Police Officers, EMTs and Firefighters for Outstanding Service

The Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce is set to honor the outstanding police officers, EMTs, and firefighters from Southern Sussex County at the Joshua M. Freeman Valor Awards. On Friday, February 10th, the Cove Bar and Grille in Selbyville will host the luncheon beginning at 12 noon. Representatives of local towns and public-safety organizations, government officials and the Chamber and its members will gather to honor members of area fire companies and police departments for their work in our community.

“The members of the local law enforcement, fire departments and emergency medical services are everyday heroes who make the sacrifice to keep our community safe,“ said Kristie Maravalli, executive director. “We, as the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, are privileged to organize this event to recognize these extraordinary individuals whose work not only protects our citizens but also ensures the safety of our visitors as well.”

Each local department will recognize one of its members for outstanding service in the past year. One of these nominees will then be awarded the top honor of the annual Joshua M. Freeman Valor Award.  Eight years ago, this event and the top award were renamed in memory of the late developer and philanthropist, Joshua M. Freeman. The 2017 Joshua M. Valor Awards are presented by The Carl M. Freeman Companies and supported by Banks Wines & Spirits, Coastal Point, Delmarva Power, and NVHomes/Ryan Homes.
