GEORGETOWN, DE – According to CNN’s Money, the effects of Storm Jonas that impacted the Mid-Atlantic Region last week will likely cost businesses and residents $2.5 to $3 billion.  In Delaware, coastal and inland flooding, high winds and snow continue to wreak havoc on businesses and homeowners alike.

“We know that our small businesses are in the process of assessing their damage, primarily caused by high winds and flooding,” said Bill Pfaff, Director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Georgetown.  “We want to remind those businesses that we are here and offer free services that could assist them to get back up and running.”  Pfaff said storms such as Jonas might also prompt entrepreneurs to start businesses, such as clean-up or construction.

“Whether you’ve been in business two years or twenty,” he said, “If your business has been impacted by Jonas, we may be able to assist with training such as marketing or writing a business plan, as well as help businesses to get prepared for a loan to cover the cost of construction repairs or equipment  replacement.”

In addition, through the SBDC’s Business Resiliency Program, information is available, such a free business continuity workbook, on how to prepare your business for the next disaster, whether it be storm damage, fire, flooding or supply chain interruption.

• Confidential — All clients, their businesses and related information are kept strictly confidential; and
• Free — Business counseling services are provided free of charge to businesses and entrepreneurs.
