Hike Through History on Coin Beach
Fridays, June 16 – August 18 at 10:00 a.m.
Rehoboth Beach, DE – Join a park historian for a “Hike Through History” and explore the bizarre world of maritime superstition on Fridays at 10 a.m. Sailors of the 19th century believed that certain customs would protect them as they took to the seas and used them to explain the unexplainable. Participants will stroll “Coin Beach” and learn how the sandy coast got its name while imagining how different the Delaware landscape would have been hundreds of years ago. Tales of shipwrecks, maritime superstitions, tragedy and mystery that occurred along Delaware’s beaches will be told.
The program cost is $6 per person, and is suitable for families of all ages. Pre-registration is required by calling the Indian River Life-Saving Station at (302) 227-6991. For more information on this or other programs at Delaware Seashore State Park, please visit destateparks.com.
