Clarksville, DE

Clarksville is a small community that serves as a gateway to the Delaware beaches. It derives much of its wealth from neighboring towns of Millville and Ocean View. While the town may seem small, it has played a huge part in local history. The Union Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church was not only home of the first African American public school in the region, but has served as a religious center for local communities for the last two centuries. Fire consumed the original church and several of the school buildings, but the original one room wood-framed schoolhouse remains standing to this day.
