The five state parks located nearest to The Quiet Resorts, in Sussex County, are a mix of beach, bay, and inland parks. The beach parks, including Fenwick Island State Park, Delaware Seashore State Park, and Cape Henlopen State Park, collectively feature beach access with showers and concessions, ecological public programs, and campgrounds. Historic sites within these parks include The Indian River Life-Saving Station at Delaware Seashore State Park and Fort Miles at Cape Henlopen State Park. Holts Landing State Park, found at the southern end of the Indian River Bay, offers hiking trails, boating, fishing, clamming, crabbing, and even primitive campsites. Found further inland, Trap Pond State Park features boating, camping, and nature center activities including summer camps.
Purchasing Park Passes
Park passes can be purchased by day or annually and can be used for entrance at all of Delaware’s State Parks. The Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce and Information Center sells annual Delaware state park-parking passes. The passes are available to Delaware residents for $35 or senior residents for $18, and to non-residents for $70, or senior non-residents for $35. The Chamber does charge a 50-cent convenience fee per pass.
The Information Center, located at 36913, Coastal Highway, Fenwick Island, is open Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm, and Saturday 9:00am – 1:00pm, October to March. Beginning in April the Information Center will be open six days a week with new weekend hours of Saturday, 9:00am – 3:00pm. (Closed Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day).
