South Bethany

South Bethany Beach, Delaware
Incorporated: 1901

Self-proclaimed as “The best little beach in Delaware,” South Bethany Beach is part of what is known as the “Quiet Resorts.”  As the name suggests, this town provides tourists with a relaxed and peaceful vacation destination within reach of the nightlife of Dewey Beach, local parks, and nearby beach towns such as Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island, and Rehoboth Beach.

History:

Purchased by Richard F. Hall and his wife in 1953, the 130-acre parcel was part of a plan to develop the marshland into fingers of land outlined by 5 canals. These would become house plots that would speckle the area, providing almost every home with a waterfront view. During the next half century, the area grew and now appeals to vacationing families from all across the country searching for quiet beach living.
