January 27, 2016 – The management of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Gallo Realty announced the winner of its annual Community Service Award, presented to an agent or employee of the company that has donated his or her time and effort to help the community. The award was presented to Sales Associate Chris Beagle.

Beagle has volunteered and held leadership positions with various nonprofit organizations in Pennsylvania and Delaware for nearly 20 years. He currently serves as vice-president of the Board of Directors at CAMP Rehoboth, where he has been very active with many fundraising and advocacy efforts since 2009, most recently co-chairing the organization’s 25th anniversary festivities and establishing the first Baltimore Avenue “Block Party” over Columbus Day weekend 2015.

He also serves on the board of Equality Delaware and was involved with volunteer and legislative efforts, having testified in the House and Senate, to help pass the state’s civil union and same-sex marriage bills in 2011 and 2012. In recognition of those efforts, he and his husband, Eric Engelhart, were selected to be the first same-sex couple married in Sussex County, on July 1, 2013.

Beagle has previously served on SCAOR’s Community Foundation board and the Cape Henlopen Education Foundation board (CHEF), where he mentored students at the high-school and middle-school level for several years.

A donation to the charity of his choice is part of the award. Beagle will donate the $200 as seed money to the company’s newly established Gallo Gives Foundation.
